Creative Coding · A series of interaction sketches made in p5.js

Concept sketchbook

概念速写本

Before I build a game mechanic, I want to know how it feels. These p5.js sketches are where I find out. Each one tests a single feeling: I change one value and play it again. Along the way, each sketch grew its own story and its own way to play.

The method

01

One feeling

Each sketch starts from a single sensation: pull, gathering, patience, discovery, holding on. Anything that doesn’t serve it is left out.

02

One verb

The player gets one action: move, click or drag. No menus, no instructions on screen. If the feeling needs explaining, the sketch isn’t working yet.

03

A poetic premise

Every sketch has one line of poetry as its brief. The line is not built literally. It decides what the action should feel like.

04

The world is the feedback

No scores or counters. Progress shows up as a change in the world: the sky darkens, the current bends, a fish appears.

05

Tune one value, replay

Iteration happens through a few numbers: a radius, a strength, a count. Change one, play again, keep what feels right.
